Portrait Project
My inspiration for this project came from the artist David Sutherland (posted below) who did a project involving projecting one’s face onto sculptures or different people. They would makes faces or talk creating the illusion that whatever their faces were projected on were the bodies doing the talking. Obviously simply projecting one’s face on an object or someone else will be just the same as...

Portrait Artist
This is a Houston artist named David Sutherland who uses a rig to project people’s faces onto sculptures or other people. Many people commented on its science or forensic aspect, and Sarah thought this had to do with many scientific photos’ aim to reveal an unseen aspect, such as the texture of things revealed by the UV light. We discussed the importance of these being referential...

Project 4: The Trace
Artist Statement:    For this project I started experimenting with taking photos of this under black lights. My interest was in the UV wavelength’s ability to pick up things that aren’t obvious to the naked eye. I began shooting things that I knew had substances such as blood that supposedly fluoresced under black lights quickly found that the claim was probably exaggerated by shows...
